TIM MOHR'S horror year with injury has come to a close with the Greater Western Sydney defender suffering a tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Limited to just eight games this season due to foot and knee problems, Mohr suffered his latest injury in last Saturday's match against Geelong at Spotless Stadium.

He will undergo a full knee reconstruction with the Giants hopeful he can still return to the field in 2015.

"It's very unfortunate for Tim, but we are confident he can make a full recovery and resume playing football next year," GWS football manager Graeme Allan said in a statement.

Mohr overcame his earlier injuries, which began in the pre-season, to play eight successive games in a key defensive post for the Giants this year.

Along with GWS co-captain Phil Davis, once he returned from his kidney injury, Mohr was a critical member of the young GWS backline.

His performances included 19 disposals, 11 marks and three tackles in the round 13 victory over the Brisbane Lions, and across the season he averaged 14 possessions, four marks and two tackles per game.

The 25-year-old Tasmanian has played a total of 43 matches for GWS, including all 22 last season, and recently penned a new two-year contract keeping him in western Sydney until the end of 2016.

Mohr joins teammates Jeremy Cameron (ankle), Stephen Coniglio (thumb), Lachie Whitfield (shoulder), Nick Haynes (ankle) and Aidan Corr (shoulder) on the sidelines for the rest of this season.
