The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the final four matches played of round 18. The following charges were laid:

Ty Vickery, Richmond, has been directly referred to the Tribunal for striking Dean Cox, West Coast, during the second quarter of the round 18 match between Richmond and West Coast, played at Patersons Stadium on Friday July 25, 2014.
 
In summary, he cannot accept an early plea in the matter.
 
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the West Coast Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), severe impact (four points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of nine activation points, resulting in a direct referral to the Tribunal, with no offer of an early plea. He has an existing bad record of 43.75 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months.
 
Luke Shuey, West Coast, has been charged with a Level One Misconduct Offence ($1200 sanction) for engaging in misconduct against Ty Vickery, Richmond, during the second quarter of the round 18 match between West Coast and Richmond, played at Patersons Stadium on Friday July 25, 2014.
 
In summary, he can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea.

Mark LeCras, West Coast, has been charged with a Level One Misconduct Offence ($1200 sanction) for engaging in misconduct against Ty Vickery, Richmond, during the second quarter of the round 18 match between West Coast and Richmond, played at Patersons Stadium on Friday July 25, 2014.
 
In summary, he can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea.

Jeremy Laidler, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a Level Two Striking Offence (125 points, one-match sanction) for striking Jack Gunston, Hawthorn, during the third quarter of the round 18 match between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, played at the MCG on Saturday July 26, 2014.
 
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.
 
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record.
 
Other Incidents Assessed:
The match day report laid against Richmond’s Brandon Ellis for engaging in rough conduct against West Coast’s Patrick McGinnity was assessed. After speaking to the umpire who laid the report, receiving a medical report from the West Coast Football Club and reviewing all available footage, it was determined the force used in the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
 
The match day report laid against Collingwood’s Clinton Young for striking the Adelaide Crows’ Brodie Smith was assessed. After speaking to the umpire who laid the report, receiving a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club and reviewing all available footage, it was determined the force used in the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
 
Contact between West Coast’s Dean Cox and Richmond’s Ty Vickery from the second quarter of Friday’s game was assessed. Cox and Vickery were preparing to take position at a boundary throw in when Cox throws his arm back and makes contact to Vickery. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, it was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.
