CARLTON ruckman Matthew Kreuzer will not play in the VFL this weekend due to leg soreness that is unrelated to his troublesome foot.

Kreuzer has played for the Northern Blues in the last two weeks after recovering from the fracture in his right foot that sidelined him in February.

He was due to play a third straight match in the VFL this week.

However, head of football Andrew McKay told the Blues' website that Kreuzer had experienced some soreness in his left leg and the club has decided to take a cautious approach.

"Matthew's other leg was a bit sore after the weekend's game with the Northern Blues, so we've taken the decision to rest him this week as a precaution," McKay said.

"We're really happy with the way his foot has recovered so this is no cause for concern.

"Matthew knows his body better than anyone so if he is feeling 100 per cent next week then he will be considered for senior selection."
