WEST Coast coach Adam Simpson says he has not pressed vice-captain Scott Selwood about his contract, but remains hopeful he will be at the Eagles next season.

The Eagles announced on Thursday that youngsters Dom Sheed, Tom Barrass and Jackson Nelson had signed contract extensions.

However, Selwood's contract position remains unknown.

He is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season and has reportedly been linked with a move to Geelong, where his brother Joel is captain.

Simpson said on Thursday that he had not had specific contract discussions with Selwood, 25, and the club would be patient with the negotiations.

Simpson said he was hopeful the Eagles' 2012 best and fairest would stay in Perth.

"He's a best and fairest winner, he's our vice-captain and he's an important part of our side," Simpson said.

"We've had conversations, but nothing too deep. To be honest it's been more about form and his body.

"He'll make that [contract] decision when he needs to, and I'll let you know when he does."

Selwood has been battling an ankle injury all season.

He missed 10 weeks with the injury in 2014 and then a portion of the pre-season after requiring further surgery.

He played in round one, but then was out for six weeks.

Selwood has played every game since, but has been the starting sub three times.

Simpson said it was a combination of form and fitness has seen Selwood wear the green vest.

"He's still managing his ankle," Simpson said.

"What we've been told is it's going to take a good season to get back to full comfort, the way he recovers, prepares, training during the week, how many kicks he can have on it.

"So he's been restricted a little bit and we've got to manage him through the season, but at the same time our midfield is performing pretty well, so a bit of both."

Simpson said the Eagles would name an unchanged line-up to face Gold Coast on Saturday night despite fitness queries over key defender Will Schofield.

He was subbed out of last week's win over the Sydney Swans at three-quarter time with a calf problem.

Simpson said Schofield would travel and undergo a fitness test, with Jamie Bennell travelling as an emergency.

"I think he's all right," Simpson said.

"He has a bit of a knock to his calf. We'll test him out tomorrow and we're anticipating he'll be fine."

Jeremy McGovern is still at least a week away from returning from his hamstring injury. Simpson said McGovern would need to train strongly next week to be considered for a return against Hawthorn.
