NEW AFLW team Richmond has continued its raid of the Western Bulldogs, poaching star midfielder Monique Conti.

Conti will join her former captain Katie Brennan at Punt Road next season, with the Bulldogs to receive the No.1 draft pick from the Tigers.

The 19-year-old Conti, who also plays basketball for the Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL, was best on ground in the 2018 AFLW Grand Final.

On a busy day of transactions, Adelaide re-signed co-captain Erin Phillips but won't know until early next year whether she'll play in 2020, while Carlton re-contracted 21 players, including 2019 NAB AFLW Rising Star Madison Prespakis, All Australian defender Kerryn Harrington and forwards Darcy Vescio and Tayla Harris. The quartet signed two-year deals.

The Blues did not have an update on the status of captain Bri Davey, who has requested a trade to Collingwood.

Midfielder Millie Mullane has retired from AFLW after playing 22 games across three seasons, 14 at Collingwood in 2017-18 and eight at Carlton in 2019. The Blues have also delisted Tilly Lucas-Rodd and rookie Courtney Webb.

The Crows locked away a swag of players on Wednesday, including Phillips’ fellow All Australians Ebony Marinoff and Stevie-Lee Thompson.

Phillips, 34 next month, had a left knee reconstruction two weeks ago after rupturing her ACL in the Grand Final. The club indicated she would be given until February to make a decision about her playing future.

Adelaide also confirmed it had traded versatile tall Jessica Allan to Greater Western Sydney for a third-round draft pick. Allan, the sister of premiership defender Sarah Allan, was on the team’s inactive list this past season after taking a job with the Australian Army.

The Crows said lively forward Ruth Wallace would return to the team in 2020 after missing 2019 for personal reasons.

The Bulldogs re-signed midfielder Angelica Gogos and defender Elyse Gamble, but cut defender Jessie Davies and forward Tessa Boyd, the sister of the club’s AFL premiership ruckman Tom Boyd.

With only two days remaining in the second part of the AFLW Trade and Signing Period, the futures of several players remains uncertain. 

Davey’s request to move might depend on Collingwood’s willingness to hand the Blues the No.2 selection in this year’s NAB AFLW Draft – and possibly more. 

Western Bulldogs defender Libby Birch wants to be a Demon, but there was no official movement on that front on Wednesday.

Melbourne is still to confirm whether Daisy Pearce will return in 2020. The star onballer had twins earlier this year. 

The Magpies re-signed defenders Emma Grant and Jordy Allen, midfielder Kristy Stratton, and ex-Australian netballer Sharni Layton, while the Dees added defender Shelley Heath and forward Ainslie Kemp to their list.
