BRISBANE will head into round three unbeaten for the first time since 2010, but coach Chris Fagan isn't yet daring to think his side could return to the finals.

The Lions beat North Melbourne by 20 points at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, backing up their round-one win over West Coast.

They fought back from 22 points down midway through the third term to hit the lead, and then trailed again by 10 points in the last quarter before overrunning the Roos.

The club managed just five wins last year and have won two already this year, but Fagan was adamant the Lions' goals for this season haven't shifted.

GAMEBREAKER Cameron cuts through when it counts

"It doesn't change anything," he said after the win over the Roos.

"We've got no reason to get ahead of ourselves or anything like that. As a club, we've been poor on the win-loss side of things for a long, long time now.

We talk every week about the process, we don't talk about the big picture or the end goal. It's not on our minds.

The Lions haven't played in the finals since 2009, and although Fagan said "the small sample" of games this season suggested they had improved, a top-eight finish hadn't crossed his mind.

"It's natural enough that people might talk that way because we've had a couple of victories. We've got to cope with that and make sure we keep our minds on the next game and not get caught up in the bigger picture things, because that's a trap," he said.

"But I understand that that talk might be about because we've been impressive for the first couple of weeks."

Recruit Lachie Neale starred with 43 disposals and eight clearances in the win, while Fagan also praised Mitch Robinson and Ryan Bastinac for their roles in shutting Kangaroos midfielder Aaron Hall out of the contest.

Hall was influential in the first half with 19 disposals and a goal, but managed just seven disposals after the main break, an important factor in the Lions' win.

"It was an important move. Hall was the dominant player on the ground I felt in the first half, and us coaches had a bit of a chat at half-time and thought we better do something about it," Fagan said.

Cam Rayner suffered a corked leg in the third term and limped from the field. The No.1 pick returned soon after but could be in some doubt to face Port Adelaide next Saturday night at the Gabba with a six-day turnaround.
