MELBOURNE has recalled Dom Tyson for his first match since round eight as the Demons look to rebound from their underwhelming Queen's Birthday performance.

Elsewhere, Peter Wright and Marcus Adams will make their season debut after injury for Gold Coast and Western Bulldogs respectively, while the Kangaroos axed ex-Hawk Billy Hartung and Dale Morris has made another miraculous recovery from injury.

Tyson's absence from Melbourne's senior line-up sparked speculation other clubs could swoop on him in the off-season, but he has another opportunity to establish himself on Friday night.

Tim Smith is also back, while Cam Pedersen and Charlie Spargo have both been dropped for the Demons, who face Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval in a match that could shape both sides' long-term fortunes.

The Power regain Tom Jonas, who has recovered from a hamstring issue, in place of fellow defender Jack Hombsch.

James Frawley is set to return for Hawthorn after being a late withdrawal last week because of his latest migraine.

Kaiden Brand, who came in for Frawley, makes way for Saturday's clash in Launceston with the Suns, who beat the Hawks twice in 2017.

Joining 'Two-metre Peter' as a Gold Coast inclusion is rookie debutant Jacob Dawson, while injured pair Jack Bowes and Rory Thompson are out.

Star midfielder Stephen Coniglio headlines Greater Western Sydney's three additions for its make-or-break game against Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon.

Dawson Simpson and Jeremy Finlayson round out the Giants' selections, with Rory Lobb (back), Daniel Lloyd (knee) and Harry Perryman (omitted) making way.

The Lions promoted Josh Walker and Rhys Mathieson as replacements for injured forward Daniel McStay and dropped midfielder Ben Keays.

Morris returns 11 days after minor knee surgery, along with Josh Dunkley, Adams (ankle) and Aaron Naughton for the Bulldogs' side to face North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Shane Biggs was dumped again, while hamstring victims Jack Macrae and Easton Wood and Lukas Webb (thumb) also come out.

North ran out of patience with Hartung, who had only 10 disposals in the last-start defeat to Geelong, and also sent young forward Cameron Zurhaar back to the VFL.

Jed Anderson returns from his hamstring strain for the Roos, who also picked Nathan Hrovat for his first match since round three.

Under-siege Carlton could also make five changes for Sunday's MCG battle with Collingwood, although only Sam Kerridge (groin) is a confirmed out at this stage.

Aaron Mullett, Cameron Polson, Jarrod Garlett, Andrew Phillips and Matt Kennedy are jockeying for a spot in the Blues' side.

Magpies Flynn Appleby, Callum Brown, Ben Crocker, Adam Oxley and potential debutant Brayden Sier are in line to play for Daniel Wells after his season-ending foot injury.
