INJURY has cruelled brilliant Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott once again, ruling him out of the blockbuster Anzac Day clash with Essendon on Thursday at the MCG.

A corked buttock will keep the goalsneak on the sidelines, with the spring-heeled Will Hoskin-Elliott coming in for his first game of 2019.

Meanwhile, the Bombers have dumped first-round draftee Darcy Parish - the second time he will be out of the senior side this year.

Parish was a shock omission for round one and after returning the following week, has averaged 19 disposals the past four weeks.

Star midfielder Devon Smith was recalled after dealing with a chronic knee issue, while David Zaharakis will also return after overcoming an infected knee.

For the Pies, backman James Aish has failed to overcome his concussion, with tagger Levi Greenwood receiving an opportunity in the senior side.

Hoskin-Elliott had been set to return from left knee surgery in the VFL on Saturday before Elliott was declared unfit to play.
