HANNAH Stuart started the year on St Kilda's VFLW list, was rewarded with AFLW promotion for season seven, and is now a starting midfielder in womens.afl's Team of the Week for round six.

North Melbourne rebounding defender Brooke Brown also made the cut, as did Brisbane ruck Tahlia Hickie after she scooped the coaches' votes

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

DEFENDERS

Brooke Brown (North Melbourne), Maddi Gay (Melbourne), Aileen Gilroy (Hawthorn), Mua Laloifi (Carlton), Nat Grider (Brisbane)

Brown (17 disposals, 328m gained) was a force to be reckoned with off half-back, Gilroy (15, 10 tackles) set Hawthorn up for its second win and Grider (17, eight intercepts) kept things calm in defence for Brisbane.

Laloifi (a round-high 13 intercepts) continued her excellent form, and Gay (19 and 374m gained) provided run out of defence.

MIDFIELDERS

Tahlia Hickie (Brisbane, ruck), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Monique Conti (Richmond), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Hannah Stuart (St Kilda)

Hickie was dominant both in the air and at ground level with 31 hitouts, 12 disposals (205m gained), three marks and a goal.

Stuart (25 touches, two goals) produced a star performance in St Kilda's narrow loss, Bowers (26, 12 tackles, six clearances) is back at her best and Garner (18, 10 tackles and two goals) was North's best against the Swans.

Two consistently outstanding players in Marinoff (24, 11 tackles) and Conti (23, five clearances, 440m gained) round out the on-field midfield selections.

FORWARDS

Jess Duffin (Hawthorn), Kate Hore (Melbourne), Chelsea Randall (Adelaide), Shelley Scott (Geelong), Jesse Wardlaw (Brisbane)

Randall (27, three goals) was simply outstanding, kicking the first two goals of the game when the heat was at its highest. Hore (13) also booted three goals, as did Duffin in a throwback performance for the ages.

Scott (13 and two) caused havoc in the air and at ground level, and Wardlaw (eight and 2.3) could not be shut down.

INTERCHANGE

Emily Bates (Brisbane), Georgia Garnett (GWS), Nina Morrison (Geelong), Vivien Saad (Gold Coast), Emma Swanson (West Coast)

Garnett (17 and 12 marks) provided a perfect link between the midfield and forward lines, while Saad (16, 11 intercepts) was a steady head in defence.

Morrison (21, 10 tackles, eight clearances) enjoyed her time as an inside midfielder in Georgie Prespakis' absence, Bates (19, nine clearances) dominated the Bombers and Swanson (28, seven clearances) led the way for the Eagles.
