All the teams for Round 5 in the rebel VFLW.

The big names keep on appearing in the rebel VFLW, with Darcy Vescio set to make their first appearance in the league they previously made their own in five years when Carlton takes on reigning premier Port Melbourne at IKON Park.

Vescio, 30, last played in the VFLW for Carlton in Round 13, 2019, and returns with an opportunity to tick off a milestone that has been sitting dormant for all that time, having kicked 96 goals in 39 matches that included the first two VFLW premiership for the Darebin Falcons.

It is believed only Moana Hope and Katie Brennan have kicked 100 goals in the rebel VFLW, with Essendon recruit Sarah Perkins also sitting on 96.

Vescio will be joined in a stacked Carlton team by Season 7 AFLW club best-and-fairest winner Mimi Hill on VFLW debut, while prized trade acquisition Yasmin Duursma also plays her first game in navy blue, with Keeley Sherar, Lily Goss, Mia Austin and Georgia Tait also recalled.

Maddy Guerin, Keeley Skepper and Taylor Ortlepp are among those taking a rest.

The Borough have also beefed up their team after a shock loss to Casey Demons last week, with Richmond trio Maddie Shevlin (on club debut), Laura McClelland (first game since 2021) and Charley Ryan all selected alongside Borough premiership player Kate Adams.

Collingwood has also named a host of AFLW-listed players when it takes on several of its former stars against Darebin at Genis Steel Oval.

The Magpies have selected former league gun Lauren Brazzale for her first game at the level since playing for Carlton in 2022, while Irishwoman Muireann Atkinson makes her debut, with Alana Porter, Eleri Morris, Erica Fowler, Eliza James and Amber Schutte all likely to cause headaches, although young gun Lucy Cronin has been rested.

Darebin recalled co-captain Steph Simpson from injury to replace recruit Lauren Collis (knee).

Southern Saints and Essendon have also dived into their AFLW lists at the selection table, with Caitlin Matthews, Nat Plane, Darcy Guttridge and Ella Friend back for the Saints after not travelling to Sydney for loss to the GWS Giants last week.

The Bombers have named ex-Western Bulldogs’ AFLW mainstay Bailey Hunt to don the sash for the first time, Georgia Clarke will step onto the NEC Hangar for her first VFLW game since 2022 and young talent Lily-Rose Williamston returns alongside Manaia Huta, with Steph Wales, Mia Busch and Marnie Robinson managed.

North Melbourne faces a big ask to get its premiership push back on track when it faces the undefeated Box Hill Hawks at Fenjiu Stadium.

The Kangaroos are coming off a hiding in Sydney last week, while the Hawks held off Williamstown, but the home team is starting to pull out the cotton wool for its big names, with Tahlia Fellows rested to leave seven AFLW-listed youngsters in the line-up.

Forward Miz Kendall misses with an ankle injury, with Sydneysider Taylah Canobie and Healesville’s Paula Pavic to debut.

North has recalled an experienced group, with Felicity Theodore, Amanda Ling, Brooke Slaney and Mara McSweeney all coming into the team.

Western Bulldogs have called on AFLW talent Dom Carruthers for their trip to Williamstown, with Tallia Pulcino also in to replace the rested Millie Klingbeil and Mali McLeod, while the Seagulls have made just one change with young gun Cam Tyrrell returning for Neve Crowley.

GWS has lost ruck Fleur Davies for up to a month with an ankle injury ahead of its hosting of Geelong at Tom Wills Oval, and with AFLW star Haneen Zreika and Olivia Edwards unavailable.

The Giants have given Southport’s Caitlin Miller a VFLW debut and selected AFLW pair Georgia Garnett and Kat Smith to play their first State league games since 2021 (at Williamstown and Port Melbourne respectively).

The Cats will be without Abbey McDonald for the trip north and last week’s debutants Millie Lang and Mekah Morrissy return to their Coates Talent League clubs, but forwards Liv Cicolini and Poppy Schaap are back alongside Sydney recruit Caitlin Reid and Port Melbourne signing Ruby Dale wears the hoops for the first time.

Sydney steps up to 20 AFL-listed players for its home game against Casey Demons, with the biggest names still in action and star young defender Ella Heads among the inclusions alongside fellow debutant Ruby Sargent-Wilson and the experienced Annabel Woodward coming in for Academy member Imogen Brown and first-year players Lara Hausegger and Holly Cooper.

The Demons will leave Melbourne trio Alison Bannan, Sarah Lampard and Ryley Wotherspoon at home, with ex-captain Sammie Johnson among the inclusions.

All matches in the 2024 rebel VFLW season will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.
