Last week's gif and go: Rioli's steal or Wingard's spider skills

The Boomer bring-down

Swap the centre wing at Etihad Stadium for the African savannah and this could plausibly be a clip of a lion hunting down a gazelle. In the role of the gazelle is North Melbourne's Brent Harvey, enjoying a fine season but, at least in this instance, perhaps beginning to feel the effects of his 35 years. His hunter is Sam Day. At a towering 196cm, Gold Coast's former No.3 draft pick makes an unusual but no less worthy Lion.

A Hawk's heroics

The 2012 Grand Final is an unhappy memory for Hawthorn fans. But for their table-topping side, the finish to that season could have been worse. The Hawks led Adelaide by 10 points in the dying moments of their preliminary final at the MCG when Crow star Patrick Dangerfield gathered the ball inside 50. Wheeling towards goal, Dangerfield looked a monty to slash the deficit to four points, only to be stopped in his tracks by a flying Ben Stratton. Lance Franklin's goal at the other end completed a 12-point play in a game the Hawks hung on to win by five points.
