COLLINGWOOD is still weighing up whether to pursue out-of-contract Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, coach Nathan Buckley says.

The Magpies have emerged as a potential suitor for Kreuzer should the Blues decide to part ways with the 26-year-old restricted free agent.

Despite Collingwood already boasting three genuine ruckmen in Brodie Grundy, Jarrod Witts and American import Mason Cox on its playing list, Buckley said Kreuzer was still on its radar.

"We have and are looking at Matty Kreuzer. We are still assessing whether it's a fit for us (and) he's assessing whether we're a fit for him," Buckley told Fox Footy on Monday night.

"And Carlton is still in the mix as well because he's a restricted free agent.

"That's ongoing and hasn't come to a conclusion."

Buckley said ruckmen Grundy and Witts remained "long-term players" for the club.

Meanwhile, the Magpies' coach said he was confident the club would facilitate a trade for departing Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar, who last week nominated Collingwood as his preferred home.

"We've begun conversations with them [the Giants], but in the end, the player generally gets his wishes," Buckley said.

"We've had ongoing dialogue with Adam's management and now with Adam, and I know him from coaching him in the under-16s."

"We look forward to … welcoming him to the club for the rest of his AFL career."
