WEST Coast skipper Shannon Hurn has joined Josh Kennedy and Mark LeCras on the sidelines after being ruled out of Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Hurn is still suffering concussion from a brutal collision with Melbourne captain Jack Viney in the dying stages of Saturday night's feisty clash at Domain Stadium.

"Shannon, unfortunately, is still suffering the after effects of that heavy head knock, so he’s got concussion symptoms,” football manager Craig Vozzo told westcoasteagles.com.au.

"He’s also got a low grade hamstring unfortunately out of the game, so he is likely to be at least one week on both fronts."

Losing Hurn is a major blow to the Eagles' backline, which could also be without Will Schofield after he fronts the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday to contest a one-match striking ban.

Young defender Jackson Nelson won't be considered as a potential replacement for Hurn after stagnating in his comeback from a hamstring strain.

"Jackson has had a slight setback through his rehab with that hamstring," Vozzo said.

"It is still low grade but we could not quite elevate it to the level of training that is required to get him available this week. He will be at least one more week."

Dual Coleman medallist Kennedy (calf/Achilles) and veteran sharpshooter LeCras (hip) are aiming to return against Port Adelaide on Sunday week.

"So what we have done (with Kennedy) is we have been focusing a lot more on the rehab, on ground running and the calf strengthening exercises etcetera," Vozzo revealed.

“We are getting really good outcomes but he isn’t going to play this week. We are going to take the advice of our strength and conditioning and medical staff, give him the extra week and have him ready and available for the week after versus Port Adelaide.

"Mark is progressing well. He has had the symptoms in the hip settle and now we are going to be in a build-up phase and see what response we get to that, but we are hoping he might be available for selection next week."

The Eagles are taking a cautious approach with draftee Daniel Venables, who remains at least a week away after a toe issue.

Electric small forward Willie Rioli is about two weeks from returning from his second hamstring injury this season at East Perth, alongside youngsters Jake Waterman (foot) and Tarir Bayok (hamstring).
