ST KILDA will install chief operating officer Terry Dillon as temporary CEO with the search to fill the role full-time still ongoing.
Dillon has been appointed as the interim chief after the resignation of Michael Nettlefold in September last year.
The Saints say they remain "most pleased" with the progress the club is making in searching for Nettlefold's full-time replacement.
While the Saints are yet to find a candidate to fill the job, they have emphasised they are confident an appointment will occur "in the very near future".
Nettlefold said when he resigned he would continue to work with the club until an appointment was made, and will keep doing so "to allow for a seamless transition to the new CEO".
It was reported last week the Saints had sought out Carlton CEO Greg Swann, which he confirmed to Fairfax on January 23.
However, the Blues' long-term administrator and former Collingwood CEO said he had declined the approach.
St Kilda president Peter Summers thanked Dillon for agreeing to "undertake this transitional role in the short term".
"While we understand that this process has taken some time, we have always been committed to finding the right person based on a timetable that works for us as a club," Summers said.
"From my perspective as a new president, I would like to thank everybody at the club for the role they have played in superbly managing the business during this transitional time."
