Trigg, who was suspended for six months in late 2012 for his role in the Kurt Tippett draft tampering and salary cap saga, has been widely tipped to be leaving the Crows.

It had been speculated that he was in the running for the vacant chief executive positions at the Blues and the Brisbane Lions.

But he is on his way to Visy Park to fill the vacancy that was created when Greg Swann resigned in late May.

Adelaide said on Monday night it would not be commenting on the speculation but confirmed it would hold a press conference on Tuesday morning. 

Trigg, who recently turned 52, played football in the SANFL with Central District and North Adelaide and coached Sturt in 1991 and '92. 

He was then involved a journalist with the ABC and the Adelaide Advertiser, before joining the Crows as the club's membership and communications manager in 1997.

Trigg has held the CEO position at West Lakes since December 2001.

Only Geelong's Brian Cook and West Coast's Trevor Nisbett have been in their roles as AFL club chief executives for longer than Trigg.

Two-time premiership player Nigel Smart, who was recently made the club's chief operating officer, is among the front-runners to take over from Trigg as Adelaide's CEO.

 

Football department boss David Noble is another club employee who has been mentioned as a contender.
