An Alex Rance moment

Despite a pre-season claim that he had worked hard to eliminate costly brain fades, it seems Tiger defender Alex Rance is still serving up what his coach has labelled 'Alex Rance moments'. A strong contender in this personal Hall of Shame came last Saturday night against the Bombers, as Rance opted to switch the ball quickly when teammate Steven Morris was awarded a free kick deep in defence. And move it quickly he did, mis-kicking the Sherrin horribly back across goal, and putting it straight into the grateful arms of Ben Howlett - the Bomber midfielder having to do little more than dribble the ball through the open goal from twenty metres out.

Gubby feels the Beas' sting

In the 'halcyon' days of suburban football, Magpie Gubby Allan had a brain fade that he would not be allowed to forget in a hurry. Collingwood was deep into the process of giving up a 37-point lead to Footscray at the Western Oval (now Whitten Oval) when Allan opted to kick across goal, only to pick out the Dogs' champion full-forward Simon Beasley who went back and slotted the winner. Bulldog Jim Edmond can be seen here trying his best to raise Allan's spirits with some gentle words of encouragement.
